Granite Security Products
Founded in 1991, Granite Security Products offers business and residential security containers. The company also provides gun safes for burglary and fire protection. The safes from Granite sold as Winchester, Red Head, Granite and Treadlock represent protection from unwanted access and destruction from fire. The company manufactures pony, legacy and Silverado series gun safes, as well as eVault personal electronic safe. Its gun safes are equipped with Underwriters Laboratories three-tumbler locks The company serves homes and businesses.
AMSEC began in the late 1940’s in a small building in Paramount, California, where founder Glenn Hall set up shop with little more than a welder, a lathe, and a desire to build strong safes. Later, AMSEC pioneered the production of round door vaults, which served as the industry standard for decades. While offering excellent security, they were very expensive to manufacture.
In 1930, John Brush, Sr. and his brother-in-law, Willard Punnett, opened a small shop for the manufacture of safes at 545 West Avenue in Rochester, New York. The Brush-Punnett Company was an early pioneer in the stamping (metalworking) of steel safes. After a long and arduous startup period that spanned the Great Depression and World War II, The Brush-Punnett Company made some early successes by selling safes to Vassar College for its dormitories and steel skids to Eastman Kodak.
